To install for the first time, choose the Full install package for your operating system if present. To update, you can simply use a smaller Basic package.
Full installs come with an appropriate Java Runtime Environment and the JAI Image I/O Tools installs bundled. JAI Image I/O Tools is a package distributed by Sun in order to provide richer features to the Java Runtime Environment. Specifically, it will allow more image formats to be opened and saved. These items only need to be installed once.
